Greensgrow Farm Field Trip

The students seemed to have a great time on the field trip to Greensgrow Farm.  They were hard at work taking notes and shooting video to put together for the mini documentaries they will be creating.

We're off to a great start this year for the 6th graders in the Gifted Program.  This week was really our introduction week, discussing what will be going on this year as well as what we did this summer.  We used a new website to talk about our summer - it's called Voki.  Students created avatars of themselves and voices to go with those avatars that talked about their summers.  Here are a few photos (I've seemed to have lost the photos to one of my classes somewhere) as well as the links to each students' Voki:

EarthFest 2014

Students had a great time at EarthFest today.  There were a lot of great exhibits for students to check out and even some yummy treats!  Overall, students said they really enjoyed having the freedom to walk around on their own and look at things at their own pace.  They were very well behaved as always and made me proud to be their teacher.

Dr. Dimuzio & Johnny Angel Visit

For the kick-off of the next Gifted seminar called Project Earth, the 6th grade Gifted class had two special visitors Tuesday: local author and veterinarian Dr. Jessica Dimuzio and her beloved dog, Johnny Angel.  Dr. Dimuzio is the author of the award winning book Bark, Bark, Bark For My Park and she came in to read her book to students about  how she and her dog helped save the Norristown Farm Park from becoming a golf course.  Students seemed to really enjoy the visit, especially getting to pet the dog!
